My Virtual Classroom Session 4: Engaging Learners Online Through the Action-Oriented Approach

Making an educational shift by incorporating the action-oriented approach is a major challenge for second language teachers under “normal” conditions. Since the arrival of the 2020 pandemic with COVID-19, teachers have courageously tried to integrate virtual and hybrid approaches into their teaching. This workshop will support teachers towards integrating the action-oriented approach in a virtual reality. This shift emphasizes a skills-first model, an expectation towards authentic real-life situations. Making this transition in a virtual reality is a major challenge for all educators. In the workshop we will discuss how we can generate a model to create this action-oriented “virtual reality.” The goal is to support all our learners to generate growth and progress with full confidence. Creating an engaging environment is highly achievable and desirable.
