CASLT CoLab Code of Conduct

By using this platform, you agree to adhere to the following code of conduct to ensure a safe environment free from harassment, bullying, and other inappropriate behaviour.

Use of the CASLT CoLab Platform

You agree to use the platform for its intended purposes (building communities of practice, engaging in mentorship, sharing strategies and resources, accessing professional learning content, and connecting with language educators across the country).

You may not use the platform for uploading or sharing copyrighted material, such as material that has been photocopied or scanned or purchased or downloaded behind a pay barrier, etc. You MAY, however, share external links to resources.

You may not share others’ personal information. “Personal” refers to information that identifies an individual, such as home address, home or cell phone number, credit card information, member identification number, or password. Publicly available information, such as information on a business card or LinkedIn profile (name, job title, business address, business telephone, and work email address), is not considered personal information.

Behavioural and Cultural Expectations

You are expected to engage in behaviour that supports the CASLT CoLab goals of building communities of practice, engaging in mentorship, sharing strategies and resources, accessing professional learning content, and connecting with other language educators. Bullying, harassment, or other inappropriate behaviour (including, but not limited to, threats, derogatory comments, discrimination, and sexual harassment) will not be tolerated.

Disciplinary Actions

Recognizing that CASLT CoLab is inherently social in nature and that platform interactions will take place either privately (i.e., through direct messaging) or outside of the platform (i.e., online or in-person meetings), participants are encouraged to report any inappropriate behaviour to the administrator (projects@caslt.org) and, if applicable, provide relevant evidence.

Depending on the nature and severity of the inappropriate behaviour, offending participants may receive a written warning or have their platform access revoked. Those who receive a written warning will have their access revoked if the offending behaviour continues.

Depending on the nature and severity of the offending behaviour, CASLT may also pursue police intervention.

By using this platform, you agree:

  • To abide by the above conditions.
  • To abide by the Code of Professional Conduct of the professional association in the province or territory in which you reside or to which you are affiliated.
  • To abide by all relevant federal, provincial or territorial, and school authority legislation (e.g., Fair Dealing, Access to Information Act, Privacy Act, etc.).
  • To establish and maintain a positive, safe relationship with fellow participants based on trust and confidentiality so that communication can occur without fear of judgement or disclosure.
  • That participants are volunteers and receive no compensation.
